Meanwhile, at the Golden Ivy.

The time had come.

The time had come for G'nort Dragoon-Talanador to inspect the ruins of his famed Tavern. The Tavern that stood against so much for so many years. The Tavern that held so many memories, duels, championships, successes, failures, parties and celebrations.

The Tavern that Ganderfald burned. Arane Ganderfald. The Bitch Princess of Rhydin.

As he walked around the ruins with his group of investigators who were busy little bees taking notes about what the extent of the damages were, he was thinking of revenge. Ways to get back at Arane for the damage she'd caused him. If this act of arson were to go unanswered, it would simply leave the door open for his empire to fall by other forms of attack, both internal and external. This was something he could not allow.

Though merely a human, G'nort was far more powerful a person than anyone actually was aware of, even his current girlfriend wasn't fully aware of what he could do, what sorts of things he controlled. Things gathered to him during his days as an outlaw adventurer where he learned how to do everything from basic camping skills to running a financial empire with a shrewd hand. He had aquired many things of value both normal and arcane, and wasn't afraid to look into their potential of use, there was no doubt in the mans mind that something he had could cause the Ganderfald woman great harm in one way or another.

Then there were the Gnomes. Those tricky bastards know how to do things most people only dream of. That was the advantage to having several full clans at your beckon and call. One word from him and they would tell him which of their clever inventions would cause the most physical, apocolyptic damage, to the littlest trinket that could fly onto a wall for spying purposes if the revenge was to be more covert. The business alliance he had with them was most advantageous for all sorts of activities both minor and grandiose.

All these thoughts plus more were going through the mans head as he absently kicked some debris across the formerly well polished wooden floor, towards the wreckage of where the marble topped bar used to stand. Trained eyes travelled the length of what was left of the main room, nothing present that was salvagable. This Tavern was definitely a total loss.

It was no surprise to him once the body of a mage was found that the tavern burned quickly. The body made it obvious that Ganderfald had used this magic user to bypass the entire protective spell which prevented any damage to the Tavern from becoming permanent. The down side to that was that so confident was G'nort of the protective spell, that he had taken no insurance on the Golden Ivy. So with its destruction, he couldn't even recoup any monetary losses to compensate the emotional ones.

Oh she would most certainly pay. One way or another.

His steps took him further along towards where the remains of the well known freezer lay, its door slightly ajar. With a rough pull, then moving somewhat inside to push wider, the door was opened. What he saw there concerned him a bit. While it wasn't much of a surprise to see foodstuffs missing from inside the large walk-in, what did surprise him a bit was that missing from the iron hooks which held a large human shaped bag, was the body of one Charlotte Jericho, Chuck as G'nort liked to call her. Former pin-up girl of CDR, whose calendar sales were a good cause of his financial security.

After her death, Tareth Thorn had brought her body to the GIT figuring G'nort would know what to do with it. G'nort had a plan, and to preserve the body he had it placed in a body bag and hung inside the freezer. Only a few people had known of this. With the exception of the grotesque display the Gnomes put on in the season after Chucks death where they animated her in an experiment for a few duels(Which she went undefeated), there was little anyone knew about her whereabouts before the fire. The Gnomes were severely scolded for their animation processes on Chuck, and she had been placed back into "storage" until a suitable burial could be arranged.

Over time, G'nort had forgotten the priority of the body, stating things like "It wasn't going anywhere." and "She's dead. What's she going to do, get up and stop me?" and similar sayings. But apparently someone had not forgotten about her. He'd have to question the gnomes, of course. It's only natural they'd be the primary suspects in her bodys disappearance. Tareth wouldn't take the body. He could have done it at any time.

G'nort rubbed his chin in a thoughtful manner, running his mind through all sorts of suspects. Arane most certainly was a strong suspect in this issue. Since she'd burned the Tavern, for the most likely reason of having Charlies body, it'd make perfect sense that she'd steal it away.

An afterthought came to him that he started focusing on...

Maybe the Dragon ate her.

Ahh, Fyrentennimar. Such a find had been difficult for G'nort. After aquiring the Tavern, he'd thought of a brilliant way to power the freezer, and keep it cool in those hot, smoldering summer months.

A White Dragon.

And so, he'd gone searching. He knew that white dragons lived in cold climates, so it was North he'd went exploring until such a time as he had come to the lair of one such young dragon. This dragon was only a few years old and not yet completely mature. But like all dragons, he was rather intelligent. So, G'nort had made him a deal. Since this dragon was alone, parents probably slain by some random dragonslayer, G'nort offered a place to stay, food to eat, and safety from the hands of any who wished to harm dragonkind.

In the GIT, he had a cave constructed, leading from the river to the underside of the building, where the dragons head had access to the whole of the freezer. This set-up was quite entertaining, in reality. Many a time had a young woman who G'nort fancied, or who he wished to tease, had been sent into the Freezer to fetch a little something only to encounter a fierce looking dragon. Of course, after the initial fear started, the dragon would only kiss the woman on the nose to show it meant no harm, but it was usually funny to see this sort of thing happen.

Now, with the Tavern in ashes, it occured to G'nort that there wouldn't have been any deliveries for some time, as it had been weeks before he finally showed up to do something about the wreckage. He smacked his forehead. Of course the dragon would get hungry. No doubt it consumed everything in the Freezer before heading out into the wild to search for sheep or cows or other such dumb, useless beast to feed on.

He would hope that Fyren didn't eat Chuck. He did care for the girl, after all. They were friends even if they were in a business with each other, and he wouldn't want her to end up as dragon waste product.

He quickly checked the back of the freezer, then the gate that lead to the dragons lair, and there was no dragon to be found. He went further even, down into the lair, seeking any clues.

No, the dragon was most certainly gone.

"Damn."

There were enough goings on in Rhydin today involving Dragons that his white would most certainly be viewed with hatred and possibly even be attacked. Such an innocent beast would meet a grisly end by one of the business owners who had his or her shop burned down by a fire breather. Of course they wouldn't care that red dragons are the most common fire breathers, and that a White would only breathe ice and sub-zero cold air. They would see Fyren as a dragon to be stamped out. G'nort couldn't let that happen to a partner/pet. He would have to search for him now.

G'nort let out a long sigh as he contemplated the effort it would take in order to find Fyren, and the payment needed to compensate any losses that farmers would take for the dragons eating binge. Perhaps he could turn it around and just claim he's a dragon hunter hired to take down the Great White. That may work, yes.

G'nort turned to his attractive, red headed female assistant, Juri Maeda. "Juri. Deal with this mess. Don't worry about cost, we can rebuild a better Tavern and have more protection.... And insurance, yes." He said at her glance about rebuilding.

"Yes, sir." Juri replied, writing down a few notes. "Anything else?"

"Yes. Have the GnomCorp head of human relations, their chief scientist, and operations manager in my office first thing Sunday morning."

"But sir," questioned the assistant. "They're all off on Sundays. It will be difficult to.."

"Oh, I know." Interrupted G'nort. "But they will come in on that day for me. Oh, and also get me the Ogre to help with my Interrogations. Err.. Questioning. Understood?"

"Understood." Juri said with a smile. She always liked seeing those pretentious gnomes get hassled. They thought because they ran and invented so many of the technological advancements or Urnst that they could get away with anything. Sometimes, she thought, it was a shame they lived in a land where nothing more advanced that Steam Power worked. On the plus side, it kept out those things like video and audio recording, spy satillites and other similar espionage devices from working there. Probably why Talanador liked running the whole country.

Juri sighed. She knew it was going to be difficult to explain to the gnomes why he wanted them in his office. But at least she'd get to watch them around the ogre. Gnomes don't like Ogres much.

"Since I am finishing up here, Sir, will I be able to reach you in the usual manner?" She asked.

"I'll be on silent running until Sunday, Juri. There's something I need to find." G'nort replied casually before stepping through the charred doorframe of the former Golden Ivy Tavern.

He would deal with Ganderfald soon enough.
