Night Sky

Post by Alasdair Galloway »

“You looked like you were coated in the night sky.”

Max’s words continued to echo through his mind as Alasdair continued to work on his newly forged set of armor. Made of a metal that was different than any other he’d seen, it was stronger yet still easier to manipulate with his unique set of magic than anything he had ever worked on before. He was putting a few finishing touches on the breastplate, hoping to lessen the weight just a smidge more, even though it already weighed less than most sets of armor.

Alasdair was able to recall the armor as needed thanks to a breakthrough in studying the metal. Instant transmission… teleportation… whatever someone might want to call it, but by syncing it with his wrist device, he could have the armor form around him nearly instantaneously. By connecting his new sword Aries and shield Aurora, Alasdair could be armed and protected in the blink of an eye. But it was worth testing just once more.

With a touch to his wrist, the test began. Soon the armor formed around Alasdair, encasing him in the sleek design. No joints left uncovered, the armor gave him flexibility beyond that of most normal sets. But his favorite part was the color: predominately midnight black, but also with a green that constantly shimmered and almost floated against the dark. They were the skies of a place foreign to Alasdair – somewhere he had never visited nor ever laid eyes on – but a place that still felt almost like home.

In his right hand he wielded Aries. The dark double-edged bastard sword created and gifted to him by Mallory. Alasdair had yet to master the weapon, but was getting used to its unique magic that was tied to the zodiac. The green speckles of starlight perfectly complimented his newly minted armor.

In his left had he held his new shield Aurora. The 24 inch diameter shield was stained black, with the center bowl shaped into a lion’s head. Max had said it was made of meteoric iron, and Alasdair was able to add his own enchantments to toughen up the shield and hopefully to make it nearly indestructible – not that he was in any hurry to attempt to destroy Max’s gift to him.

Worn together, Alasdair might vanish or blend into the night sky and its darkness. Some might think the darkness doesn’t fit him, but Alasdair would disagree with that. The night time was the best time, and… well, Alasdair loved puns. So being a knight of the night? He couldn’t be happier.
