DoF Pipeline Update

It has been a few months now since the DoF team put together our player feedback survey. We're closing in on our first corner being rounded and we felt now was a good time to give a basic frame of mind for the initial things headed your way. Without going into too much detail when we looked at the survey results there were a few key issues we wanted to address first. We've been hard at work to tackle these forefront ideas(history accessibility(both ic and ooc), story prompts and some other things) and as we're drawing nearer to our first implemented change we wanted to give a heads up.

Soon(ish) we're going to be laying the groundwork for some things we intend to roll out this year. The goal is to introduce some fun new ideas that are entirely optional to our players. Everyone will have the means to participate and play into these new features, forever. But when they are initially rolling out we think it would be special to let Opals get first crack at them. We wanted to give a heads up now even though we think it's still a few months out. We wanted to refrain from making any stiff statements about when exactly we plan to roll out our new ideas but we felt it was important to bring this to you on the off chance that it might inspire more people to go for titles they might be on the fence about.

We are really excited for what's to come and we want you to know that we're working hard to address the feedback you all gave us.

Hey there everyone we on the DoF staff would like to follow up with our last update with the current state of things under the hood. As you may have noticed some new threads have popped up in the DoF OOC forums under a category labeled Opal Realms. Over the past few months we have been working on these settings which we hope will address the largest pain points we received from our survey.

The main topics we aimed to tackle with these are:

• more story avenues
• a fresh platform for new opal holders
• devices to connect with old stories
• expansion of the dof lore
• agency for characters in the sport

It was our desire to unveil these on the night of the past DQ however that did not come together as well as we had hoped. Instead we have decided to move forward by revealing these realms when their corresponding opal is next challenged for. Once an opal has been challenged we will post the opal realm in the thread as well as an FAQ for the realms in general. We will go into more detail once we arrive there but up front it can be said that we would like current opals first stab at the realms. Both sitting opals now and challengers will get to post first in the realms and should any opal not be challenged by the next DQ its realm will be posted in the thread and at that point anyone may begin writing for them.

More will follow soon and we hope you're excited for what's in store. We apologize for the delays along the way but we're grateful that we have you all playing our game and hope that this will only lead to more stories and memories for years to come.

Based on feedback about the previous post, we're altering our plans and will launch the Opal Realms immediately for all players and characters (i.e. not waiting until each opal is challenged). We thank all of you for your passion and opinions and welcome additional feedback should you have any to provide.
