The Dead Nicholas

The Dead Nicholas is an expansive, three story Victorian converted into a bed and breakfast. It lies on lands deeded to Billy Ray after services rendered to Jonalyn. The land around the Nicholas proper is grassland with an ancient oak tree out front, its branches overhanging the wrap-around porch. The land to the east has an orange orchard and beyond that the ground becomes hilly as it makes its way towards a small mountain range. There are natural springs up near the mountains and Billy claims that there a few that run "Hotter'n a desert dance-off".

The first floor area is a large bar in dark mahogany with tables in the shape of coffins. The top of the coffins are transparent and each has a famous dueling figure "body" inside. The bodies are magical constructs and appear to be alive but in a deep sleep. Only dead or long missing people are used for table display. The tabletops are also able to display various noteworthy duels and/or accomplishments (good and bad) the person inside has had. Customers tend to have their favorite tables and reservations for certain celebrity tables can be long indeed. There are a wide variety of foods but the Nicholas specializes in Asian style cuisine due to the old chef, Mr. NG. The bar is well stocked with most types of liqueurs and Billy keeps a wide variety of Red Orc brews along with most other brands of beers. Billy's apartment is located near the back door off of a small hallway. Not overly large but well appointed and meticulously clean.

The second and third floors are gotten to via a large wooden spiral staircase. There are many rooms, each set up slightly different to match the tastes of their occupants. The second floor is designed for the shorter stays and the third floor for the longer or semi-permanent ones. A few of the Nicholas' third floor rooms are rented long term by various duelers and RhyDin notables who want a place to escape when life gets too hectic. Billy also has the habit of taking in strays so at any time there can be people living there until they get back on their feet.

The basement is set up for Billy's training. There are weights enough to shame private health clubs and plenty of open DoS-style space for sparring. The long-term visitors are allowed to use this area as long as they respect it. There are showers, a sauna and Mr. NG's daughter Minh is skilled in massage if the need arises. There is also a locked room in the basement that is rumored to keep some of Billy's heavier training equipment, items too dangerous to be letting the guests get involved with.

The attic is large and peaked but mostly unused. Billy has some ideas for it but he's finding it hard to find the time to get around to fixing it up.
