What Is The InterGender War?

Post by DUEL Harris »

The InterGender War was introduced in the Duel of Fists in 2000, with the general concept being to have the men and women of the sport duke it out to determine which gender was superior by tallying the total overall wins. Individual prizes/accolades were afforded to the duelist of each gender with the highest winning percentage in the top bracket. Every male vs. female duel counted toward the IG War standings in the Outback and the contest ran for roughly one cycle (3 months). The first IG War ended with the ladies coming out victorious by a total score of 200 – 182, with Ria Graziano (then Alexandria Wells) taking top honors for the women and Daelin Dragonsblade taking top honors for the men.

InterGender War II was held in 2001 and saw Arianna lead the ladies with a 7-1 record, while Xerzes Maureen maintained a perfect 7-0 record for the men. The second IG War actually ended in a 75 – 75 tie when Ria Graziano and Bode Bojangles duked it out to determine an overall winner. Bode mysteriously disappeared during the match and never returned and Ria opted to take the tie as opposed to a win.

InterGender War III took place in 2003 and the men finally managed to achieve victory with an overall score of 91 – 74. Leading the pack was Anubis Karos, with a perfect record of 7-0, tying the record Xerzes set in the previous IG War. Dizzy Flores was the overall leader for the women with a 16-7 record. Both duelists were awarded Opals for their performance as it so happened two Opals were vacant at the time, leading to Anubis choosing MoonBeryl and leaving Dizzy with FireStar.

InterGender War IV came after a six year hiatus in 2009 and the men pulled out another win with a score of 82 – 73, bringing the overall record to 2-1-1 in their favor. Dizzy Flores once more stepped up to lead the ladies and managed a 13-1 record, allowing her to again lay claim to an Opal for her efforts, this time IceDancer. Kheldar Drasinia held the highest percentage for the men with a 6-1 record and was given an Opal grant that he bestowed upon Tasslehofl Momus. Overall twenty-five women and thirty-four men competed in IG War IV.
