Overgrowth

Post by Harris »

An unusual growth spurt has afflicted the flora in the Outback in the wake of the ShadoWeaver challenge the evening of May 22nd. Water lillies float like buoys in the pool and moss hangs unnaturally from Styx, as well as the other rafters high above that hold the Outback's roof in place. Tall grass makes it nearly impossible to reach certain areas of the venue, but the growth has very little impact on anyone still wishing to patronize the bar (though they should be careful when fetching their own beverages thanks to the oversized cactus perched behind the counter) or compete in the various rings. The Fern itself has sprouted several more colossal fronds that cast a wide shadow across the interior and seems to have begun producing spores that float harmlessly about.

((OOC Note: This manipulation of the Outback's setting has been made with staff approval. The growth doesn't hinder dueling in the Outback in any way and is open to be played off of in any way you choose!))

Busted

Vines slithered silently across the walls after all of the Outback's patrons had vacated the premises for the evening, specifically targeting the series of oil portraits that hung over the bar, representative of each individual Diamond Quest victor. One by one they were dragged from their places and stacked into several neat piles behind the bar, to be gathered up later by the staff and stored for posterity.

In their stead a total of forty marble plinths had emerged from the ground to dominate the space to the immediate right of the double doors, and upon each stood an impressively sculpted marble bust bearing the likeness of each Diamond Quest winner. Each plinth held information pertinent to that Diamond's reign or reigns, including their name, their DQ victories, and timespan for each. Such exquisite renderings culled solely from the oil paintings would find themselves the center of attention, the Outback's flora retreating only from the immediate area around the sculptures seemingly to highlight the venue's newest addition that sprang up overnight.

It wasn't another conflagration or even a liberal spraying of herbicides that finally rid the Outback of its flourishing plant life. In fact, to the common patron, it would simply appear as if the various flora disappeared overnight, retreating back to wherever it was they had come from. The Fern no longer spewed spores across the venue, though it still held its vigor and size, crowding the space it held as it continued to loom larger than life.

And that was that. Ending as curiously as it had begun.
