Changing Tactics

Post by Candy Hart »

Since the time Kalamere championed Rakeesh during the Overlord challenge, Candy had it out for the man. Even with her separation from FireStar, the opal's anger from that day lingered. Kalamere's reasoning behind his own actions that day would never overcome the foundation of the code Candy lived by. Payback was required. Each time he called her 'darlin,' and every escape he made when she tried to collect only added to the coming retribution. The fact that the man had also been sleeping with a woman that was her from another time and place just added more fuel to the fire of her rage.

Candy perched on a high roof, three hundred and fifty-two yards away from The Line. A cigarette sat balanced between her lips and smoke curled the air as it exited her lungs. In the back of her mind she heard her father's steady and calm voice, a contrast to the burning fury that had brought her up to her perch that day. Kalamere proved a difficult target to take up close. The fact that he'd gone for his blade in reaction to the threat she presented only further confirmed to the woman a need to change her tactics. Candy chuckled lowly to herself, recalling Kalamere's words that she experiment that change in tactics on members of other teams. Through the scope mounted on the rifle—the firearm borrowed from Dillon's vast collection—she watched her target.

She only shot people that really pissed her off.

Her finger felt the curve of the trigger. Her lips smirked in satisfaction. She could easily make the shot, and the Iron Fist League's official had told Candy that the Badside Brawlers only needed four active members to compete—information given based off a rumor he'd heard about the possibility of inter-team violence.

However... Jake had forbidden any damage that would cause a member of them team to be unable to perform. Her finger slid off the trigger. She leaned back, exchanging the cigarette for a long drink from the bottle of Badsider.

"Y' get a few weeks, Kal. Hope y'enjoy 'em."
