Progress Report

Post by Kitsune »

To the desk of Madam Director Stone, Eyes Only. Security level Beta-Silver.

Madam Director:

As directed, Foundation personnel were assigned to the tasks of discovering the identities of those involved in the recent incident surrounding Maria Graziano. The findings are as follows:

1) Telephone records show a call placed from the pharmacy desk to the tabloid office approximately four minutes after Mrs. Graziano's arrival at the hospital.
2) Hospital records show that only one of the people who had access to the pharmacy desk at that time was not occupied with a patient. That person's name and residence address was given to Mr. Cook as ordered.
3) Hospital surveillance tapes clearly show the reporter who took the photograph. That person's name and residence address was also given to Mr. Cook as ordered.
4) Mr. Cook has reported that he was able to detain, question and physically admonish the hospital employee for his indiscretions. Mr. Cook further indicated in his report that the person in question was thoroughly convinced to never behave in such a manner in the future.
5) Mr. Cook also reported that the tabloid reporter was not at his residence. Mr. Cook reported that significant persuasion was attempted at the tabloid office to obtain the current location of the reporter, but the effort was inconclusive. He has indicated that he will continue to search for the reporter.

End Report.

The Kitsune Foundation prided itself on having the very best people on it's payroll... and Clay Cook was certainly no exception.

Impressive, even imposing... Clay stood 6'4" tall and the build of a pro-football tackle. His dark hair cropped short, military style, helped to emphasize his dark, beady eyes and the radiation burn scars that covered most of his body. His voice sounded like he was chewing on gravel... and his demeanor suggested that he enjoyed it.

Clay's primary job was bodyguard for Ms. Stone... but he also served as her personal enforcer. There were very few people who could do so much to a person, yet leave them alive.

His latest assignment was a simple one... go to the addresses of two people who had made his employer upset and convince them not to do it again. It reminded him so much of the Old Earth Mafia dramas... but Ms. Stone was always clear. If she had wanted the men dead, she would have said so. This assignment had promised to be much more entertaining.

He'd first gone to see the intern from the hospital... and was fortunate enough to be coming in just as the man was leaving his apartment. Cook hadn't even needed to draw his weapon... the man had quickly folded over and, despite falling unconcious several times during the "discussion", was eventually convinced that such actions were ill-advised. Cook didn't care if the man would recover completely from his wounds... all that mattered to him was that the intern would survive, and would always remember what had happened.

Then he'd gone to the reporter's home... but found no one. Further investigation at the offices of the Red Ripe Current News failed to locate the reporter. Cook knew that he couldn't put too much pressure on these people, as it would tip off the reporter and send him into hiding... so he left to do some searching on his own.

When he returned that morning to check on the reporter again, the burned out office building told him everything he needed to know.

"Cook reporting." he said into his communicator, linked directly to the desk of Ms. Stone's secretary. "There's been a fire at the office of that news rag. A Watchman on our payroll told me that only one body was found and I'm pretty sure it's that reporter, Robinson. Since Green isn't with the Foundation anymore, I figure it was someone connected with the Grazianos who did the deed. At The Director's discretion, I will produce a patsy to take the fall with a claim that he was trying to frame the Grazianos for what happened. End report."

Clay already had a couple ideas of who to grab... possibly even that Max Blue fellow who had been connected to the orphanage fire...
